MOST MATERNITY SESSIONS IN SOUTH FLORIDA HAPPEN ON THE BEACH. IT’S BEAUTIFUL, FAMILIAR, AND A PLACE I RETURN TO OFTEN.

BUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, A LOCATION SURPRISES YOU.

THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE SESSIONS.

Open Land, Clean Sky, and a Windmill

This session took place on open farmland in Davie, Florida

And what drew me to it wasn't lush greenery or a dramatic backdrop. It was the opposite.

Wide open space. A wooden fence running into the distance. A windmill standing quietly against the sky.

That kind of minimalism gives you something most locations don't: room to breathe. Room to compose. Room to let the people in front of the camera be the whole story.

Why This Location Works So Well for Maternity Photography

When a location is simple, the emotion becomes everything.

There's no competing detail pulling the eye away from her. No busy background to navigate around. Just open field, clean light, and two people waiting for their baby.

The wooden fence gave us natural leading lines, a way to anchor the couple in the frame while the landscape stretched behind them. The windmill added character without distraction. And the sky did the rest.

For maternity photography specifically, this kind of space creates images that feel timeless rather than trendy. They'll look just as good in ten years.

Come at golden hour. The low sun moves across the open land in a way that wraps everything in warmth , long shadows, soft tones, light that feels unhurried. Exactly like this season should feel.

The Aesthetic: Western, But Make It Editorial

This session had a western edge to it that I loved.

Not costume Western. Editorial Western. A wide-brim felt hat in camel, a denim jacket worn open, a flowing white lace skirt. Soft meets lived-in. Feminine meets grounded.

It's an aesthetic that's having a real moment right now, and it photographs beautifully against open land and warm golden light. If you've been drawn to this style for your own session, this kind of location is exactly where it belongs.

A Different Kind of Maternity Session in South Florida

If you're planning your maternity session in Miami, Davie, or anywhere in South Florida and you're looking for something that doesn't look like everyone else's, this is it.
Open space. Natural light. An aesthetic that feels like yours.
I'd love to help you create it.
